Liquid Bliss Yoga

I am supported, I am free, I am a sensual being of liquid bliss...

We are composed mostly of salt water, so what better way to feel "oneness" than to float in the warm calm ocean. The water gently soothes away tension and allows you to move with buoyancy and creativity.

Having a painful spinal condition (acute scoliosis) at an early age, made many traditional yoga asana uncomfortable and/or painful for me. 'Try this way', a teacher would say, but somethings just never felt right. After many years I learnt to truly listen to my body and accept that my life will be ok if I don't practice the most perfect downward facing dog. All of us have different physical forms and abilities and in yoga it is most important to honour our individual needs. What feels good for you? The loving caress of the waves and weightlessness of moving, lengthening, arching, twirling and inverting in the ocean feeeeeeeeels unbelievably good for me.

Immersed in the salt water in a waist high lagoon I can play, dip and dive as carefree and childlike as a dolphin. I can also access a handstand or forearm balance, slow and mindful. Receiving a thorough clean out of the sinuses is an added bonus. I can leap gracefully opening the hips with ease in hanuman, lifted by the aqua holding me up and gliding down over silky sand. There's nothing like floating into Savasana held by mother ocean, safe and serene. Possibilities are wide and expansive as the sea itself.

Co-create with the element of water.

You may want to find a bay, creek, spring, lagoon or pool near you or visit my island home and explore the under water world of liquid bliss yoga with me on North Stradbroke Island. Retreats are held seasonally and classes are September to April.
